On the 82nd birthday of Kannada cinema today – 3rd March 2016, the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy has announced awards for achievers for the first time. The event is presided over by Dr Ambarish, Umashri – state ministers with Challenging star Darshan, power star Puneeth Rajakumar today evening at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan in Millers Road.

KC consulting other film bodies has declared awards for all walks of field of cinema. It consists of Rs.50000, a memento and garland.

The first heroine of Kannada cinema Smt SK Padmadevi gets R Nagendra Rao award for acting, BR Banthulu award goes to senior director Joe Simon, D Shanker Singh award to producer HN Mudhukrishna, GV Iyer award for music goes to Rathnam, Hunasuru Krishnamurthy award for songs and dialogues goes to BA Madhu, BS Ranga award for cinematography goes to BS Basavaraj ace cameraman,  B Jayamma award for exhibitor goes to Baabji of Srinivasa Pictures, MP Shanker award for technology goes to Armugam, Toogudeepa Srinivas award goes to villain category and that is bestowed on Jai Jagadish, KN Taylor award for regional language goes to Richard Castellino.
